Reflection

I took this class as a way to help me learn and understand more about how our bodies work in terms of Health and Wellness. In this class I learned about the positive and negative consequences that occur with the choices we make regarding our bodies. I have learned that somethings such as diabetes can be inherited but there are several ways to reduce our risk with or without the genetic trait. I have learned the importance of regular exercise as well as proper nutrition and had the opportunity to participate in a documented 6 week exercise log. This has been a great tool in showing me where I can improve and strengthen my goals. This class taught me how to set and execute goal properly and I look forward to applying this knowledge into many aspects of my life in order to achieve ultimate life long wellness. 

The most important thing that I learned about Lifelong wellness is that it pertains to more then just eating right and exercising. Lifelong wellness is defined as a healthy balance of physical, mental and social health. Throughout the course of this class I have learned many ways to bring myself to a more even balance of each category in hope to create the ultimate balance in my life and can hopefully influence some healthy choices to the people around me.

I am beginning to realize that the only thing in life that can help influence the way our life will play out is our individual health and wellness. This class helped me discover and understand how I can maximize my health and keep my body in the best shape possible. This will have a large impact on many factors throughout my spiritual, emotional, physical, social and intellectual life. By having this knowledge I can always strive to better my overall wellness and deal with barriers that may arise in the best way possible.

 I fully intend on continuing down this path of healthy eating and exercise because I know that I am only hurting myself if I chose otherwise. By participating in our class assignments such as the 6 week exercise log and the nutritional analysis I have seen the positive outcome that can result from proper diet and nutrition. I can feel changes in my body such as having more energy, reduced back pain, less body fat and increase in strength that have resulted over the course of this class. I would like to continue to learn about my body and find ways to maximize my wellness to give me the best outcome in life.
